Seeheld des amerikanischen Befreiungskrieges, * 1747, † 1792, Vater der amerikanischen Flotte, hißte 1777 zum ersten Male das Sternenbanner, war Mitglied der Loge in Kirkeudbright in Schottland (seiner ursprünglichen Heimat) und der Pariser Loge "Neuf Soeurs".
