Verdienst, dass man Dein Lob erzählt, so lang wie mein Arm!“ Messerschwingend geht es über dem dampfenden Gericht weiter: „Sieh, wie der Bauer sein Messer wischt; er schneidet dich auf, wenn aufgetischt, und in Dein saftiges Inneres er bricht, dem Pflüger gleich!“ – die Übersetzung der Verse aus dem historischen Scots, dessen Robert Burns sich bediente, stammt von Rudi Camerer.
